Dr. Vargas attended Stanford University and received a degree in Industrial Engineering. After working briefly in health care management consulting, he attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego and completed his residency at the University of California, Los Angeles in Family Medicine at the Ventura County Medical Center. He has been Board Certified in Family Medicine for over 30 years and has a broad range of medical and surgical experiences both at home and abroad.

Dr. Vargas has a broad cross-cultural and medical understanding of the human experience gleaned from his years of service. He has worked as a volunteer physician in many regions of the developing world including Kenya, India, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and Ecuador. He interned at Native American Health Centers in Alaska and Arizona. At his previous family medical practice in Quincy, California, he engaged in a full spectrum of services for the rural community: emergency medicine, surgical obstetrics, nursing home and hospice patient care, inmate care and medical support for the tribal health clinic in addition to internal and family medicine.

In 1998, Dr. Vargas and his family relocated to Healdsburg where he has managed a successful private practice for over 25 years. He has served on the local hospital board and as Chief of the Medical Staff. In 2011, he implemented a leading electronic health record for his patients. He founded a local Hospitalist Medicine Service, participated in a robotic hospitalist service, and continues the practice of office-based telemedicine. He has built a reputation for quality care and leadership in the medical community.

Dr. Vargas has served on several non-profit Boards. He enjoys working with students in the local schools and has lectured on aging and wellness at Sonoma State University. His current interests include preventive medicine, telemedicine, climate change and health, and artificial intelligence applications in medicine. He values community service and a portion of his practice is committed to helping serve less fortunate members of our community. He and his wife are fortunate to share life's adventures with their four healthy and outgoing young adult offspring. Along with their community of wonderful friends, they enjoy hiking, backpacking, biking, skiing, music, traveling to learn from nature and other cultures, and taking in as many sunrises and sunsets as possible.

Dr. Sarah Dudenhoeffer attended Sonoma State University and received degrees in humanistic
psychology and biology. She attended medical school
locally at Touro University in Vallejo. She completed residency at East Pierce Family Medicine and Good
Samaritan Hospital in Western Washington.

Dr. Dudenhoeffer’s whole-patient centered philosophy is a combination of Osteopathic philosophy: Attention to health of the mind body and spirit are essential for wellness and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: The patient is able to focus on pursuits of connection, enjoyment and fulfillment when their physiological health is optimized.

Her work in health advocacy started at Haight Ashbury Free Clinic in San Francisco where she served as a care coordinator in the residential facility.

Dr. Dudenhoeffer practiced medicine in Tacoma, Washington and Fairfield at Ole Health, providing
care for immigrant and refugee populations. She spent time both in the free clinic and teaching medical
residents.

She practiced in Kauai at a rural clinic before returning to Napa, CA to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in diabetology and metabolic health. She is currently the Fellow Member on the board of the American College of Diabetology.

When she is away from the clinic, Dr. Dudenhoeffer enjoys spending time with her husband and taking
